More About The Directors

Tim Bird
Tim started out as a Designer, but has moved into Creative Production and company management over the last 10 years. The early part of his career was as a Branding Designer in the broadcast sector, working for the likes of English + Pockett, Devilfish and the BBC Ventures Group. He shifted into Theatre Design by translating his moving image expertise into a live physical environment, and as a result won all three major UK awards for Theatre Design, and was Tony nominated in the US.
During this time, he was also Creative Director of cross-media creative agency Knifedge, for 15 years, then ran his own micro agency, Timothy Bird Studio, for a further 10 years. Aside from focussing on business management of Shedworks and Empty Shed, Tim looks after Shedworks client relations with US broadcast giant ESPN, particularly for their studio base at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, SW19 for the iconic Championships Wimbledon.

Mark Carey
Mark is one of the most skilled Production Managers for large scale theatre currently working in the UK. His unique skill is curation of highly detailed 3D Production Drawings, allowing him to see and solve the technical challenge from every angle. This enabled the London revival of Starlight Express - a vastly complex technical achievement - to meet its ambitious scope, budget and schedule aims in 2024. Mark started professional life in stage electrics and lighting, later gravitating towards technical management and production, but always staying connected to his roots, where attention to detail is everything. He has developed a particular expertise in shipping and handling theatre productions, live events and experiences across the globe, including a great deal of work in Africa. He recently coordinated taking the award winning Singin in the Rain (Jonathan Church Theatre Productions) to tour in China. More major projects are slated for 2027 and beyond.
